About me
I like a challenge. I started my freelance journalism career in 2006 – just before the global financial crisis. I have had plenty of news to keep me busy over the last two decades – Brexit, Trump’s first election, a pandemic, a LDI crisis and Trump’s second term.
Armed with a degree in Chemistry, I started my working life as a pharmaceutical investment analyst. I still have a soft spot for spreadsheets but a desire to do something more creative motivated me to switch to journalism in my early thirties.
My sole trader business was first located in a cupboard in my mother’s spare bedroom and I gradually built both my knowledge of institutional investing along with my industry network.
I became increasingly fascinated by how and why pension schemes and insurance companies invest the way they do and started to win awards for my articles.
Noticing a lack of space for the industry to discuss the complexities and opportunities in sustainable investing, I created my own networking events to meet this need.
Sustainable investment is not just an academic interest. A keen scuba diver, the impact of climate change on coral reefs and the resultant bleaching causes me concern. I desire a sensible way for policy makers and investors to work together to mitigate the impact of human activity on the planet.
My networking events taught me how to master the spotlight and I now host The Professional Investment podcast, act as a master of ceremonies as well as create and moderate panels.
This year she started Moore Squared Communications with Natasha Moore to help asset managers to build better client connections.
